teens_from_old_website.jpg Complying with the federal government A-H criteria for abstinence education, L.I. Teen Freedom aims at recognizing the dignity and worth of each human person, revealed through the body, in its masculinity and femininity.

L.I. Teen Freedom teaches students that abstaining from sex as a teenager offers incredible freedom—freedom to pursue goals and dreams and to enjoy being a teenager—and that sex is wonderful and appropriate in the context of marriage. L.I. Teen Freedom also addresses the needs of students who have already been sexually active by teaching that students can still choose—and benefit from—choosing abstinence from this day forward.

L.I. Teen Freedom was created under a federal CBAE (Community Based Abstinence Education) grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Our purpose is to equip culturally and economically diverse youth across Long Island with skills and knowledge for healthy relationships. We seek to educate young people aged 12-18 about abstinence until marriage, as defined by Section 510(b)(2) of Title V of the Social Security Act, and to create an environment within the Long Island community that supports teen decisions to postpone sexual activity until marriage by fostering collaboration among parents, community resources, and schools.
